‘I must respond to the classless, sore winner remarks of our state representative

To the Editor:

As a proud member of the Monroe Democratic Town Committee ( MDTC), I must respond to the classless, sore winner remarks of our state representative who was reelected last Tuesday. That person called our “local party,” (apparently referring to MDTC), as “out of touch”, for sending out a postcard urging residents to vote for the Democratic Slate.

I guess he is apparently offended that Monroe Democrats had the unmitigated nerve to ask voters to support Democratic candidates.

He also whined about a postcard from his opponent which dared to criticize several votes he cast during his term in the Legislature. He did so, not because it was inaccurate, but rather, because he didn’t like how he was depicted.

I always thought that campaigns should be about clashes of policies and political ideology as evidenced, in this case, by a voting record. That’s the job of candidates and political parties.

Nonetheless, I’m sure the MDTC will learn from this and in the future clear all of our Democratic campaign literature with our GOP opponents first.
