George Slatcher Jr. remembered as a loving father, dedicated husband

George Edward Slatcher Jr.

George Edward Slatcher Jr., a fun loving and dedicated father and husband, passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2024, at the age of 90.

George is predeceased by his wife of 71 years, Theresa, their son, George E. Slatcher III, and their son-in-law, William Walters. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law; Deborah Slatcher and Alphonse Altorelli, Pam Slatcher and Brad Moran, Cindy Walters, Tracy and Andre Pedrouzo, his grandchildren (Nicole Altorelli, Myles Altorelli, Natalya Pedrouzo, Nathan Walters, Hali Moran, and Katiya Pedrouzo) and great grandchildren (Ellie, Stella, and Luca Altorelli).

George’s kindness and love of all things Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and UConn Huskies will be remembered.

George lived most of his life in Monroe/Stepney. In addition to his job as dad, builder and fixer of all things mechanical or structural, he was a manufacturing foreman at AVCO and Sikorsky and continued his career at Phillips Medical, Sears, and the Bridgeport Post until his retirement. After retirement, he moved to New Milford where he was a member of the Lions Club and a frequent attendee at Senior Center events.

While retired, George travelled the U.S. from shore to shore in their 38-foot RV, meeting new friends from all walks of life.

A funeral service will be held at Monroe Congregational Church, 34 Church Street in Monroe, Conn., on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Monroe Center Cemetery.
