A truck from Robert H. Lord Co. arrived with the furniture for Edith Wheeler Memorial Library’s Teen Space Wednesday.
The area now has tall modern desks and chairs where Director Lorna Rhyins said patrons can do their homework, use their laptop computers or hangout with their friends.
One corner of the space has a TV screen for video games with a semi-circle of comfortable chairs.
“They’re Sway chairs,” Rhyins said, sitting in one. “You sit in them and you can lean all over. They’re comfortable. Kids tested them and people like them.”
Rhyins said the delivery was the remainder of the furniture ordered with the library’s Makerspace and Monroe Lions Club Co-op Cafe. The Lions Club made a $93,000 donation to the Friends of the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, which used it for the project.
Anyone interested in joining the Monroe Lions Club should call its secretary, Len Berger, at 203-929-0105.
