MONROE, CT — The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today that it will open two Business Recovery Centers (BRCs) in Connecticut on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. at the Monroe Police Department in Monroe and the Oxford Town Hall in Oxford. SBA is opening the centers to assist Connecticut businesses with losses due to severe storm, flooding, landslides and mudslides that occurred on Aug. 18-19.
“Many of our residents and businesses have suffered greatly through this now declared disaster in our town,” First Selectman Terry Rooney said. “As things still remain tough for some folks, I’m pleased that FEMA will be assessing damage and monetary grants applications. In addition, we have SBA arrival today and will be meeting people by appointment, to assist those businesses affected to qualify for low interest loans. As this in some cases may not be a solution to all concerns, it is another small step in getting our community back on track.”
The Business Recovery Centers for Fairfield County in the training room at the Monroe Police Station, 7 Fan Hill Road, will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and closed on Sunday,

The disaster declaration covers Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven counties which are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the SBA. Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations in the following adjacent counties are eligible to apply only for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs): Hartford, Middlesex in Connecticut.
“Our Business Recovery Centers are one of the most powerful resources at SBA’s disposal to support businesses in the midst of a disaster,” said Francisco Sánchez, Jr., associate administrator for the SBA’s Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience. “Business owners can meet in person with our specialists to apply for SBA disaster loans and get information on the full breadth of our programs designed to help them navigate their recovery.”
SBA’s Customer Service Representatives are available at the Centers to assist business owners complete their disaster loan application, accept documents, and provide updates on an application’s status. Walk-ins are accepted, but you can schedule an in-person appointment at an SBA Business Recovery Center in advance.
