FBI, State Police bomb squads to set off explosives near Garder Road

This is one of the explosions in a training session near Garder Road last spring.

MONROE, CT — Residents living in the Garder Road area may hear explosions today and Wednesday afternoon. But Fire Marshal William “Bill” Davin says there’s no need to be alarmed.

The FBI and Connecticut State Police bomb squads are holding a joint regional training exercise for first responders on bomb recognition and what explosives can do. Both sessions will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

A classroom session at the Monroe Firehouse on Route 110 is another part of the training.

Monroe also hosted these training exercises last year.
