MONROE, CT – An overhead line on Monroe Turnpike was identified as the cause of two short power outages affecting over 3,000 Eversource customers Wednesday morning.
Mitch Gross, an Eversource spokesman, said the first outage occurred early in the morning, affecting 2,100 customers, and a second one, causing blackouts for 1,200 customers, started just after 9 a.m., before power was restored by 9:25 a.m.
“Repairs have been made,” he said. “We clearly understand the inconveniences these instances have been causing our customers and remain committed to ensuring they are resolved.”
Some residents said they heard an explosion in the area of Crossbow Lane and High Meadow Road. Gross said reports of an explosion “are typically associated with the system shutting itself down to prevent further damage – just like circuit breakers will do in your home or business.”
Gross reminds Eversource customers to contact the power company at 800-286-2000 or via its website to report power issues.
