MONROE, CT — A steady stream of residents participated in early voting at Monroe Town Hall Wednesday afternoon in the lead up to Election Day on Nov. 5. Since it began Monday, around 1,000 people decided to cast their votes early.
As of 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 997 voters participated, including 320 Democrats, 306 Republicans, 361 Unaffiliated and 10 from minority parties. The turnout accounts for about 7.5 percent of Monroe’s 13,331 registered voters, according to Registrar Katherine Briggs (D).
“It’s a good strong turnout into day three of early voting,” said Registrar Debra Dutches (R). “We have patient, but excited voters.”
Early voting is new this year and is available in person at Monroe Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road on the following dates:
- Oct. 21 – 28, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- Oct. 29 and 31, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Oct. 30, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- Nov. 1 – 3, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Same Day Voter Registration
Those who are not registered, but want to vote during the Early Voting period, may register and vote in person on any of the days of Early Voting at the Early Voting location.
Those who are not registered, but want to vote on Election Day, may register and vote in person on Election Day at the Election Day Registration site at Town Hall.
