MONROE, CT — Monroe Chamber of Commerce members had a party at Osteria Romana on Main Street recently and First Selectman Terry Rooney thanked the organization for its support of town businesses.
While hailing the town’s economic growth, the first selectman also stressed the importance of showing support for Monroe’s small businesses by frequenting its restaurants and shopping at its stores.
The gathering was attended by Chamber President Ray Giovanni and a number of other members.
Strawberry Festival
Monroe Congregational Church’s 52nd annual Strawberry Festival will be held on the church green and grounds, at 34 Church St., on Father’s Day Weekend, June 15 and 16.
Organizers welcome the public to join them for an old-fashioned, New England church festival with modern twists and something for the whole family.
Fair goers can sample homemade strawberry-flavored items, including jams, pies, smoothies and shortcakes; walk the green and visit over 100 juried crafters of handmade items. There will also be live entertainment.
Fairways to Hope
Fairways to Hope, a golf tournament fundraiser benefitting The Center for Family Justice, will be held at Mill River Country Club, 4567 Main St. in Stratford, at 11 a.m. on June 17. Proceeds will fund CFJ’s services for children impacted by physical and sexual abuse.
The tournament is sponsored by Bismark. It will include 18 holes of golf, refreshment stops, lunch, a cocktail hour and dinner. Raffle prizes will be awarded and participants can come away with silent and live auction items.

MASBC Golf fundraiser
The Masuk All Sports Booster Club is hosting its annual golf tournament fundraiser at Whitney Farms Golf Course on Wednesday, June 19. Click hereto sponsor, donate and play.
The Booster Club’s most recent contribution to Masuk athletics were new indoor batting cages in the Auxiliary gym for its baseball and softball teams. It has also helped Monroe Little League players.
Jam at the Dam
The highly anticipated Jam At The Dam Country Music Festival is coming back to Z-Topia, 1545 Monroe Turnpike, on Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27.
Attendees can look forward to a family friendly event with a variety of food trucks offering delectable treats and local vendor tents for a unique shopping experience.
Jam at the Dam will feature performances from outstanding of artists in a vibrant atmosphere.

A 50 year reunion for Masuk’s Class of ’74
Masuk High School’s Class of 1974 is celebrating its 50th reunion at Testo’s Restaurant (formerly Roberto’s), 505 Main St., on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 7 until 11 p.m.
It will be a night of dinner, dancing, raffles and reminiscing with classmates. The cost of admission is $75 per person and the event includes a cash bar. RSVP no later than July 31.

Chamber Golf Tournament
The Monroe Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf tournament will be held at Whitney Farms Golf Course, 175 Shelton Road in Monroe, on July 9. Proceeds will fund scholarships for deserving Monroe high school seniors and donations to Project Warmth.
Twosomes and foursomes are needed to play and the tournament needs more sponsors. Clarksons is the title sponsor. Donations of gift cards and prizes are needed for raffles. For information, click here.
A $175 tournament registration fee includes greens fees, a golf cart, refreshments, lunch and dinner.
Rotary Golf Tournament
The Rotary Club of Monroe’s annual golf tournament fundraiser will be held at Tashua Knolls Golf Club, 40 Tashua Knolls Lane in Trumbull, on Sept. 9. The title sponsor is L.A. Barnaby & Sons.
The tournament will start with a breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., a Shotgun Start at 9 a.m. and there will be a lunch and cocktails after playing golf.
Proceeds will benefit the Unified Sports Program at Monroe’s elementary schools. Registration information will soon be available.
