The Monroe Rotary Club and Monroe Women’s Club painted rocks together to replenish the Masuk Interact Club’s Wolf Park Rock Garden Wednesday.

St. Jude Italian Festival
St. Jude’s annual Italian Festival, featuring a wide variety of food, as well as games and rides provided by Stewart Amusements, gets underway this Wednesday and runs through Saturday.
The event will be 6 to 10 p.m. every day with the exception of Saturday, when it will be held from 5 to 10 p.m.
The food tent will offer Italian food from Jennie’s, including pizza, cavatelli and broccoli, ziti, porketta, eggplant parm, chicken parm, and meatball grinders. Parishioners will grill hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries, chicken tenders and sausage and peppers.
The festival will also have a pizza fritta food truck, ice cream, cotton candy, Italian pastries from Del Prete and Italian ice from Micalizzi.
The Parish Raffle Drawing on Saturday night has a first prize of $3,000. The event will also have a Religious Gift Shop.
Monroe Student makes dean’s list
BOSTON, Mass. — Brian Carriero of Monroe made the dean’s list at Wentworth Institute of Technology for the Spring 2023 semester. Congratulations Brian!
Adult Education
Valley Regional Adult Education offers adult education programs for residents in Monroe, Shelton, Ansonia, Derby and Seymour. Among the programs are GED, an Adult High School Credit Diploma, English as a Second Language and Citizen Preparation.

Last year Valley Regional Adult Education served 350 adults from the five communities and 61 of its students earned their high school diplomas.
Monroe Lions Shred Day
The Monroe Lions Club is hosting a paper shredding fundraiser in the Rite Aid parking lot at the corner of routes 25 and 59 on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.
The cost is a $10 donation per standard computer paper box (18x10x11) or $15 for larger boxes. For information click on this link for a pdf of the flyer.
