Margaret Ann (Hollinger) Brenna, longtime resident of Monroe passed away on Thursday February 13, 2020. She was 72.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Andrew T. Hollinger and Anna G. Murray. She graduated from Bunnell High School and Sacred Heart University. She was retired from the Trumbull Printing Company and held various training and administrative positions. She was currently employed at Bridgeport Hospital, Yale New Haven Health as a member of the Training Center Faculty as an EMS and CPR/AED instructor.
She is survived by her husband John Brenna, her sons David and Geoffrey Brenna, her daughter Lisa Cooke, son-in-law Nelson Cooke, two grandchildren, Caroline and Noah Cooke, as well as her sister Catherine Bodner from Providence, RI and several nieces and nephews.
She served the community with (31) years of active membership at Monroe Volunteer EMS as an EMT and Executive Board member; past President of the Fawn Hollow School PTO and Monroe Parents Club and a longtime member of St. Jude’s Church Eucharistic Ministry.
Her proudest achievements included obtaining Monroe HEARTSAFE Community status; serving as a member of Monroe Volunteer EMS providing numerous Community CPR and First Aid training classes to residents and local organizations and was most recently honored at St. Vincent’s Medical Center EMS Value Recognition program for Outstanding Community Service.
She was dedicated to her family and friends and was able to bring out the best in others, forever quick to praise, slow to judgement and always thoughtful. She touched everyone with kindness and made life better and happier for all that knew her. She enjoyed traveling, completing challenging puzzles, especially Scrabble and spending time with her pet puppy Kuma.
