MONROE, CT — Masuk High basketball player Mitch DeBernardo closed out the calendar year with not only stellar play on the court, but recognition off the hardwood. DeBernardo earned Connecticut High School Coaches Association and Jersey Mike’s Player of the Week accolades.
DeBernardo scored 16 points, had 7 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds for MVP honors in Masuk’s win over Bunnell in the Hardwood Holiday Classic Championship game after dominating in a tourney opening win over Greenwich.
DeBernardo scored 28 points, going 5-for-7 from 3-point range, handed out 7 assists, had 4 rebounds and came away with 3 steals.
The strong efforts kept coming after the New Year with 24 points in a win over Kaynor Tech and 16 more against Brookfield.
