MONROE, CT — A Monroe man was seriously injured Friday night, after being involved in a motorcycle crash on Elm Street, at the intersection of Bug Hill Road.
Police said he was riding his Harley Davidson at around 7:46 p.m., when there was a collision with a Mazda CX-5, driven by a Monroe woman.
The Monroe Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team is still investigating the incident to determine what caused the crash and the identities of the drivers are being withheld at this time, due to the serious nature of the incident.
Monroe and Shelton’s emergency medical services also responded to the call, along with town firefighters.
Both drivers were taken to a hospital, the woman with minor injuries, according to police.
Vandal(s) melt mailbox
A Great Ring Road man left his house on Friday evening and returned Sunday night to find his plastic mailbox had melted off the post, which was burned. Plastic remnants of the mailbox were strewn on the ground, according to police.
Police said there was no way of knowing how the fire was set and none of the neighbors reported seeing or hearing anything. The total damage was estimated at $80.
