BROOKFIELD, CT — Jockey Hollow Middle School’s Unified Sports Team traveled to Brookfield to participate in a basketball tournament on March 11.

Following the tournament, students enjoyed snacks, drinks and ate pizza. Head Coach Donald Casey Jr. said he was proud to present each student with a gold medal for respecting and supporting each other and players from opposing teams.

The Lions play in a tournament at Shelton Intermediate School.

Casey and coordinator Jennifer Fisher lead a Jockey Hollow team consisting of 21 students. Their season began with a practice on Feb. 27 focusing on safety, respect, inclusion, building teamwork skills and having fun.

Prior to the tournament in Brookfield, the Lions competed at Shelton Intermediate School on March 6, playing games against the home team and Dodd Middle Schools.

All students were awarded a gold medal following the conclusion of the tournament.
