SHELTON, CT — It was a rare come-from-behind win for the Masuk High hockey team when the Panthers defeated the Joel Barlow co-op 4-1 at the Rinks at Shelton on Monday.
Masuk trailed 1-0 through two periods of play before erupting offensively in the third on the way to improving to 13-1 overall. The Panthers have allowed just one goal in four consecutive games.
Maddex LaFountain was in net for Masuk and made eight saves as the Panthers limited Barlow’s chances throughout the night. Barlow goalie Connor Thomas kept the Falcons in the game for much of the contest, totaling 24 saves.
Kyle Sutfin, A.J. Michetti, Drew Scalia and Alex May all lit the lamp in the final stanza. Colin Deering assisted three of the goals, Sutfin had two assists and Michetti and Austin Braiewa also recorded assists.
Masuk looks to maintain its winning ways tonight (Wednesday), when the team plays Watertown-Pomperaug at Taft School at 8 p.m. This will be followed by a Saturday, Feb. 11, matchup with Newtown-New Fairfield in Danbury at 3:45 p.m.
