Name: Samantha Spino
Political Party: Democrat
Running For: Board of Finance
Education: CPA; BS in Accounting, University of Maryland – College Park
Work Experience: Currently a Senior Manager at CFGI, a leading accounting consulting firm; 7 years in private, working my way up to Controller; 5 years of public accounting with BDO and PwC as an auditor
With my background as a CPA, I have hands-on experience with budgeting and assessing revenues and expenses for their appropriateness. I’ve collaborated with executives to create forward-looking models based upon solid assumptions and research.
Political Experience: I currently serve as a member of the Monroe Conservation Commission.
Family: I am married with 3 children and our rescue dog.
Candidate Question: What is an issue affecting the town that you care about most and want to make a priority? How will it guide your decision making?
Spino: As it pertains to the Board of Finance, the single most pressing issue facing Monroe is transparency and accountability in spending. This will be accomplished by asking tough questions about any new spending of taxpayer dollars; reviewing budget assumptions to build a solid foundation for the future; and creating a three-year budget model to guide the fiscal health of our town.
