Robert “Bob” George Squinobal, 69, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023, surrounded by his family. Son of Olive “Honey” Squinobal and George Frederick Squinobal, he was born and raised in Monroe, where he remained a lifelong resident.
Bob founded Quality Landscaping in 1976 and ran the successful business for 47 years. Through his business he formed a huge network of friends, employees and professionals who all respected him for the “quality” and effort he put into everything.
He loved fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with his many close friends and family. He will be remembered by everyone for his many cookouts and parties, where the food was endless and guests participated in competitive Wiffle ball games and soccer matches. He would also treat his guests to an impressive fireworks display to end the nights.
Bob loved everything history. He would spend hours talking about WWI and WWII with his father and the history of Monroe with his mother. He was a huge New York Yankee and New York Giants fan. He continued to check the New York Post daily to follow his favorite teams.
Growing up Bob was a popular kid with many close friendships that he maintained throughout his life. He was voted prom king in senior year of high school. He was adored and admired by his sister and family.
Bob tragically lost his only daughter Sarah suddenly in 2016 just as he began a long battle with illness. Sarah was the brightest and most treasured part of his life and a part that even his huge group of friends and family could never hope to replace. The fact that they have been reunited will hopefully give comfort to everyone.
Bob is survived by his mother Olive “Honey” Beardsley Squinobal, his sister Sherry Squinobal Shevlin, niece Katie (Tony) Fattibene, and nephews Michael (Laura) Shevlin, Mark (Carmen) Shevlin, Brian (Kim) Shevlin, Thomas (Katelynn) Shevlin, and Sean Shevlin, his former spouse Gina Perno Squinobal, as well as many friends.
He is predeceased by his father George Frederick Squinobal, daughter Sarah Ashley Squinobal, and Uncle Arthur (Ina) Beardsley.
A visitation for Robert will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, Connecticut 06468, followed by a funeral service at 5 p.m. A burial will be at a later date.
