MONROE, CT — The American Legion District 3 is sponsoring a Kids Walk to benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center at Great Hollow Lake Pavilion in Monroe on Saturday, April 29, at 10 a.m. The district consists of 23 local posts that will join Monroe Post 176, which is hosting the event.
You can walk as an individual or as a team. By town ordinance, no dogs are allowed.
Tax deductible donations can be made by cash, check or online. Donations will be accepted in-person on the day of the walk.
Those who are not participating in the event can make checks payable to “CT Children’s Medical Center” with “Post 176” in the memo line and mail it to: Cmdr. Victor Yanosy, 107 Cutler’s Farm Road, Monroe, CT 06468.

The Connecticut Children’s Hospital provides specialty care for infants to young adults and athletes. It has locations in Shelton, Danbury, Hartford, Farmington and Glastonbury. Walk-in and same-day appointments are available in Danbury, Hartford, Farmington and Glastonbury.
Join the American Legion
Those interested in becoming members of the American Legion, can joining one of two branches available in the Monroe area: American Legion for veterans, or American Legion Auxiliary.
If you are the mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, granddaughter or spouse of a veteran, living or deceased, you can join Auxiliary Unit 176 in Monroe. If you are the son or grandson of a veteran, living or deceased, you can join the Sons of the American Legion at Post 202 in Newtown/Brookfield.
Post and Unit 176 meet the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Monroe Senior Center except for June, July, August and December. June and December meetings are dinner meetings at local restaurants, most recently at Tashua Knolls Restaurant in Trumbull.
