Alice Salvas to be remembered as a loving Mom, ‘Grammie’, with a beautiful smile

Alice Dorothy (Davis) Salvas, a lifetime resident of Monroe, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on July 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late George and Olive (Corning) Davis.

She was a graduate of Bassick High School’s Class of ’53 and a retired secretary of Stepney Elementary School in Monroe, where she worked for 22 years.

Alice was an avid reader, enjoyed ceramics, spending time with her family and vacationing at her cabin in Bartlett, N.H. She was also a member of the Harmony Grange in Monroe for 65 years.

Alice will be remembered for her beautiful smile and being a loving Mom and Grammie.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Ernest E. Salvas.

She is survived by her three sons Rodney Salvas of Monroe, Douglas Salvas (Debbie) of Monroe and Donald (Sandra) Salvas of Eden, Vt.; and her two daughters Barbara Salvas of Arizona and Betsy (Mark) Streck of Sandy Hook.

She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Derek and Haley Streck, Jesse, Emily and Marina Salvas, her lifelong friend Joan Salvas, cousins, inlaws, nieces, nephews and her cat Maggie.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, June 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at The United Methodist Church of Monroe, 515 Cutlers Farm Road, Monroe.
