Alexandra Babiarz had a special devotion to angels throughout her life, having a substantial collection of figurines in her home. A devout Catholic, she was extremely proud of her Polish heritage and loved cooking her native Polish dishes for family and friends, especially on the holidays. Today, Alexandra’s loved ones mourn her passing and share fond memories of her life.
Alexandra, who passed away on Jan. 20, was born in Sokolow Gorny, Poland on December 26, 1936, to the late Wladyslawa and Wladyslaw Bogusz.
She emigrated to the U.S. in 1961, to Detroit, Michigan. In 1962, Alexandra married. Theodore Babiarz, and the couple lived in Detroit then later in Mt. Clemens, Mich. Alexandra enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, and frequently visited her family in Poland. She was a devoted wife until Theodore’s untimely passing in 1986. Alexandra spent over 25 years working at various positions at K-Mart in several Michigan locations.
She moved to Monroe, Connecticut in 2006 to be closer to her niece and her family as well as her nephew and his wife.
She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Michael’s Parish in Mt. Clemens, Mich., and attended St. Jude’s Parish in Monroe after moving to Connecticut.
Alexandra was predeceased by her husband, Theodore, her sister, Regina, and brother, Bogdan. She is survived by her sister, Krystyna Kolodynska of Poland, niece, Dorothy Gnidula and her husband, Peter of Easton, and their children, Anne, Justin and Rose, nephew, Jacek Kolodynski, and his wife, Edyta Kolodynski of Seymour, and niece, Sandra Kawecki of Michigan, as well as several nieces and cousins in Michigan and Poland.
A prayer service will be held this Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike in Monroe. An interment service will be held sometime in the Spring at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Mich. Online condolences may be left at SpadaccinoFuneralHome.com.
