MONROE, CT — First Selectman Ken Kellogg says the town’s rate of new COVID-19 cases rose slightly, but that was enough to put Monroe back in the red alert category on the Connecticut Department of Public Health’s color-coded map.
In his weekly COVID update Friday, Kellogg said most of Fairfield County is in the red. The town’s two-week rolling case rate now averages just over three new cases per day.
“Our two-week case rate remains at 16.5 cases per 100,000 population,” he said Friday. “As of yesterday’s report, Monroe has had 1,114 cases and 13 deaths, since the start of the pandemic.”
Kellogg said 23 percent of Monroe’s population has received at least on dose of vaccine and 22 percent of the state of Connecticut received at least one dose.
“Please continue to check the links on the town’s website for vaccination options in our area, which continue to expand,” he said. “We will continue to post our vaccination ‘standby’ list each Monday morning between 8 and 8:30 a.m.”

In addition to daily testing conducted by Monroe’s urgent care centers, the drive-through testing on Wednesday, March 17, offered every other Wednesday, will be held at Stevenson Fire Station, 1260 Monroe Turnpike.
