Letters: Supporters tout credentials of treasurer candidates, DeLeo, O’Hara

Editor’s note: Campaign letters will be run until Oct. 31. Please email letters to [email protected] and include contact information for any verification or questions. The Sun will not run letters that are personal attacks, though it is fine to criticize a candidate’s ideas, policy positions and track record in governing.

DeLeo is a ‘perfect fit’ for town treasurer

Dear Editor,

We have both volunteered with Christa DeLeo for twelve years within the Monroe school district, and are proud to support her election as Monroe Town Treasurer. Christa’s prior professional experience and various volunteer capacities she has filled within the town make her the perfect fit for the position.

Christa has served as both the secretary and president of Monroe’s Parents’ Council, an organization that represents the needs and interests of the entire school district. She is in her second term as treasurer of Parents’ Council. She is prompt and thorough with communication, and completely reliable and conscientious with the management of funds.

When we served as co-presidents of Stepney Elementary School’s PTO, Christa chaired our organization’s mini-grant program. In this capacity she worked with teachers and the PTO to fund educational resources for the school. She volunteered for everything from the PTO nomination to laminating committee. She also serves as a parent representative for Masuk’s NEASC accreditation. In short, Christa has always stepped up to support the school system.

Christa’s dedication to Monroe extends far beyond our schools, however. She also serves as a member of Monroe’s ADAM (Alcohol and Drug Awareness of Monroe), a Cub Scout Den leader and Pack 162’s Chartered Organization Representative. She is president of Monroe’s Newcomers & Neighbors Club, and serves as a trustee and secretary of the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library Board.

Prior to moving to Monroe in 2006, Christa was a loan officer, office manager and accounts payable insurance processor. She has both the technical skills for the treasurer position as well as a commitment and love of our town that is unparalleled.

We have seen firsthand Christa’s reliability, enthusiasm and initiative and are proud to endorse her candidacy for Monroe Town Treasurer. Please come out to show your support for Monroe by voting on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

Sincerely,

Susan Napolitano and Julie Frost

O’Hara has the ‘tenacity and determination to get a job done’

Dear Editor,

I am writing to urge Monroe residents to join me in supporting Pat O’Hara in this year’s election for Town Treasurer. I have known Pat for many years and have worked very closely with him when we served together on the Planning & Zoning Commission.

Pat has been extremely generous with his time over the years, serving the residents of our town in many different elected and appointed positions. He has a vast knowledge of how the many separate departments, commissions and committees operate and how they interact for the betterment of our town. Pat has demonstrated over and over that he has the tenacity and determination to get a job done. In his short tenure as Town Treasurer he has shown that he has a good grasp of the position’s responsibilities and has performed admirably.

Please vote for Pat O’Hara for Town Treasurer in the upcoming election.

Sincerely,

William Porter
