MONROE, CT — Aubuchon Hardware, the largest hardware chain in the Northeast, will celebrate the opening of their newest store in Monroe on Friday, July 31, with a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. Then the two-day-celebration will continue on Saturday, Aug. 1.
“Finally, after a year of renovations, we are extremely excited to open our store in the location where Stepney Hardware was in business for 64 years,” said Mike Kensel, manager of the new store. “We are also pleased that Dave Otto, previous owner of Stepney Hardware, and his employee, Chris Bassick, will be joining our team.”
“This store located at 590 Main Street in Monroe will be our third store in Connecticut,” said Michael Mattson, vice president of marketing.
Aubuchon Hardware’s grand opening is among several celebrations that will take place throughout the summer.
First Selectman Ken Kellogg said the town is working with several new business owners to begin rescheduling ribbon cuttings that were on hold since March, with the goal of helping to welcome and promote them, while complying with state rules on gatherings.
The new Monroe hardware store features two floors showcasing premium brands such as Benjamin Moore Paint, Stihl Power Equipment, DeWalt Tools, Scotts grass seeds and fertilizers, a grilling assortment featuring Weber Grill Pro and Big Green Egg, as well as a propane filling station.
All are invited to meet Kensel and his staff.
Aubuchon Hardware’s hours are Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
