MONROE, CT — Townspeople participating in the Support Monroe Photo Challenge will have a chance to win weekly giveaways and the grand prize, a foursome of golf at Whitney Farms Golf Club.
The Monroe Economic Development Commission and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce started the contest to motivate residents to shop and eat locally at town businesses that are reopening amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Gov. Ned Lamont announced this week that certain businesses, including stores, shops, retailers and restaurants, may open with conditions on Wednesday, May 20 with a second wave of openings scheduled for June 20.
To participate in the Support Monroe Photo Challenge, take a selfie or picture of yourself supporting a Monroe business, post it with the hashtag #SupportMonroeCT on Facebook or Instagram and submit a copy of your receipt to verify your purchase.
Every week, from this week to June 30, there will be drawings and the lucky winners will receive prizes.
The Chamber and the EDC encourages residents to remember to wear masks and gloves and to practice social distancing while they shop, dine and pay for services throughout the town.
