MONROE, CT — First Selectman Ken Kellogg announced the first death of a Monroe resident in the global coronavirus pandemic Saturday morning.
“It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of a Monroe resident, a man in his 70’s, from COVID-19,” Kellogg said. “We extend our deepest condolences to his family. It is heartbreaking that we have joined our neighboring towns in experiencing the loss of a resident from this disease. We must continue to work together to slow its progression.”
The numbers of those infected with COVID-19 has been growing in town. As of this morning Monroe had 34 laboratory confirmed positives. Connecticut has 10,538 and Fairfield County has 5,180.
Of Monroe’s positive cases, 10 are people in their 60s, eight in their 50s, five in their 40s, four in their 30s, four in their 20s and three in their 70s.
