MONROE. Conn. — With summer upon us that means, among other things here in town, that the Farmers’ Market is up and running. There have been two Fridays of vendors and activity at the Town Hall green, and many more markets are on tap, running through the third week of October.

There is live music at the gazebo to go along with hot food made on site, fresh veggies from local farms, crafts and activities for children and more.

Daniel Smith, a retired kindergarten teacher, started Enhance Your Read Alouds (readaloudguy.com). His booth includes a rack of children’s books for the youngest visitors. Smith continues to encourage reading and, more specifically, offers parents online workshops to discover how best to read aloud with their children.
