MONROE, Conn. — Monroe’s AYSO Region 79 spring soccer season came to an exciting, fun-filled end with a jamboree at the fields near Great Hollow Lake at Wolfe Park on Saturday. Youth games were held throughout the morning and afternoon following the annual game for coaches.
Reporter Andy Hutchison coaches the U6 co-ed team. He played in the coach game and benefitted from watching the 5- and 6-year-olds play, along with some great passing and teamwork to net four goals and a pair of assists for his team. Most importantly, all of the coaches had a blast and got off the field injury free.
The girls and boys stood out with great offense, defense and goaltending with improving players continuing to develop their skills with corner kicks, throw-ins and positioning.
Registration is open for the 2026-27 fall-spring campaign and there is a $50 discount for those who sign up by June 27. Visit ayso79.org (returning families should log in; an account must be created for new players in order to register).
