MONROE, Conn. — Volunteers participating in the Monroe CT 250 Committee’s “Keeping America Beautiful” Community Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 25, celebrated Earth Week and America’s 250th anniversary by cleaning away winter grime from tables, benches and playscape equipment at Wolfe Park.
With donations of bottled water, rags, buckets, scrubbers, gloves and elbow grease, they worked side-by-side with State Sen. Jason Perillo (R-21st) to honor their town, protect its environment and celebrate residents’ shared American heritage.
The event was part of Monroe’s ongoing recognition of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, encouraging all residents to reflect on civic pride, stewardship and the role each of us plays in shaping our community.
The Monroe CT 250 Committee thanks Senator Perillo, the Monroe community, the Masuk Interact Club, the Masuk National Honor Society, the Monroe Lions Club, the Monroe Rotary Club, Masuk students and their parents, First Selectman Terry Rooney, and Monroe’s Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments.
