MONROE, Conn. — A Monroe Turnpike woman awakened by a loud noise early Wednesday morning, looked out her bedroom window, saw someone walking on her neighbor’s property across the street and immediately called police.
The first officer responding to the 12:17 a.m. call reportedly saw a woman running from the back porch towards the woods. After a brief foot chase, police said she stopped, but refused to answer any questions.
When more officers arrived, they found a broken window in back of house and glass strewn on the porch. A large rock was on the ground, the report said. Police said the latch on the broken window was in the unlocked position, but it did not appear that entry was gained.
Nobody was home at the time of the incident, according to police.
The suspect, a 34-year-old Bridgeport woman, was charged with attempted burglary in the third-degree and second-degree criminal mischief (for allegedly breaking the window). After speaking with the bail commissioner, she was released on a promise to appear in court on May 15.
