To the Editor:
As Election Day approaches, I want to take a moment to share why I am running for the Board of Education and what drives my commitment to our community.
Connecticut has always been my home, and I’m deeply proud to be raising my family here. My husband and I have been married for 12 wonderful years, and together we’re raising our two energetic boys, ages 7 and 5. Like so many parents, I want to ensure our children have every opportunity to thrive in a school system that supports their growth, curiosity and future.
After earning my degree from the University of Connecticut, I built a career in finance — an experience that taught me the importance of accountability, transparency, and thoughtful decision-making. These are values I would bring to the Monroe Board of Education every day.
I’m an active member of our community, serving as Social Chair for Monroe Newcomers and Neighbors, an engaged member of the Stepney PTO, and a participant on the Economic Development Committee. Through these roles, I’ve seen firsthand how collaboration, communication, and creativity can make a real difference.
I’m running for the Board of Education to bring new energy, a fresh perspective, and a forward-thinking vision to our schools. I believe in fostering strong partnerships between families, educators, and the community to ensure that every child in Monroe has access to an exceptional education.
I would be honored to earn your vote and to serve this community that I love so deeply. Together, we can continue to strengthen our schools and build a bright future for all of our children.
With gratitude,
Sunny Gill
A Republican candidate for the Monroe Board of Education
