Masuk girls volleyball team earns victories

MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s girls volleyball team is off to a 5-2 start to the season.

The Panthers have beaten three teams — Kolbe Cathedral, Norwalk and Bunnell — each by 3-0 scores along the way. They also posted a hard-fought 3-2 win over Brookfield and defeated Notre Dame Prep 3-1.

In Monday’s win at Bunnell in Stratford the Panthers won by set scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-17.

Lily Yerrington had 11 kills and two blocks. Addison Scott logged seven digs. Mary-Kate Boyle had four aces and 11 digs. Mia Tyler had three aces and 15 assists. Jacqui Silkman tallied eight assists. Abby Urkawich and Isabella Vendisco both had six digs. Grace Morrow recorded five digs.

Stats from the 3-2 win over Brookfield:

Tyler – 34 assists, 12 digs, one ace

Scott – 13 kills, 12 digs, one ace

Yerrington – five kills, four blocks, one ace

Boyle – 16 digs, four assists, three aces

Silkman – 10 kills, one ace

Stats from the 3-0 win over Norwalk:

Scott – eight kills, four aces, eight digs

Yerrington – eight kills

Tyler – seven aces, nine digs, 26 assists

Boyle – 12 digs

Morrow – seven digs.
