MONROE, CT — Daniel Dancer, an artist from Art for the Sky, led Monroe Elementary School students in an activity mapping out a large piece of lawn art in celebration of their school’s 90th anniversary over the course of three days.
“Then, every single community member became a human pixel in our art,” said Principal Kelly Svendsen. “He revealed the final project to us on Wednesday in a beautiful video.”
On Wednesday afternoon, the PTO hosted a Spring Carnival.
“Every K-5 student participated and it was so much fun,” Svendsen said. “There was carnival games, yard games, bubbles, a bounce house, popcorn and popsicles. The students had an amazing time.”
“The day was filled with such joy as we celebrated our 90 year legacy,” she said. “This school has rich history, but what it has more than anything else is a special community. The students, the staff, and the parents/guardians all come together to create a warm, family-like atmosphere. We are so proud of our school!”
