Masuk girls lacrosse wins state playoff game, sets up rematch with SWC foe

Emma Troesser, in action this spring, and the Panthers advanced in the state playoffs on Tuesday.

MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s girls lacrosse team, the No. 4 seed in the Class L State Tournament, defeated visiting No. 13 seed Bristol Eastern 15-2 in the first round on Tuesday.

Masuk will host SWC foe Newtown, the No. 5 seed, in Friday’s quarterfinals at 5 p.m. Masuk defeated Newtown in the regular season and lost in a rematch during the SWC playoffs.

In the win over Bristol Eastern, Charlotte Pinto scored five goals and Bailey Bajda had three goals, three assists and five draw controls.

Emma Troesser added two goals, one assist and caused three turnovers. Eve Fernandez tacked on two goals, two assists and caused two turnovers.

Goaltender Maddie Farrer made two saves on three shots and Parker Connolly had three saves on four shots.
