Masuk High’s girls lacrosse team picked up where it left off last spring as the defending State Champions have yet to lose in four games to start the spring.
Despite graduation of several key players the Panthers have maintained their winning ways, following up a 17-0 win over Notre Dame Prep with a 12-4 victory over Weston, a 13-1 thumping of New Milford and, on Thursday, a 10-6 victory at Newtown in the team’s toughest battle thus far.
Against NHS, Bailey Bajda scored five times, had an assist and recorded five ground balls. Charlotte Pinto netted two goals, Emma Troesser had a goal, assist, five ground balls and four draw controls. Jillian Kilcullen and Molly Kinahan had goals.
Masuk goaltender Madison Farrer made eight saves. The game was tied 5-5 before the Panthers scored three straight goals. Bajda scored back-to-back tallies for a 7-5 advantage and Kilcullen added to the lead.
“The girls use each other — they communicate very well and trust each other,” Masuk Coach Rob Troesser said of his team’s cohesiveness on the field.
Masuk looks to keep up its winning ways Saturday, April 19, when Daniel Hand of Madison visits at 1 p.m.
