Masuk’s win over Wilton highlights baseball team’s opening week

Masuk High’s baseball team defeated host Wilton 7-4 on Tuesday. The Panthers also lost 6-0 to visiting Trumbull on April 5 and 11-1 to visiting Stamford on Thursday.

Against Wilton, Justin Fanning got the win on the mound going four-and-a-third innings, striking out seven. Connor Fulchino got the win in relief throwing two-and-two-thirds innings, allowing only one run.

At the plate Jackson Zylick drove in two runs, Justin Fanning had an RBI, Ryan Cubelli had two hits and Jacob Mondo smacked a two-run triple.

Against Stamford, Jerson Perez had two hits and Cubelli added a hit. Henry Barbra was outstanding in relief throwing four innings allowing no earned runs and striking out five.

Masuk is at New Canaan Monday at 4 p.m., hosts Kaynor Tech Wednesday at noon, and travels to Southington Saturday, April 19, at 1 p.m.
