WEST HARTFORD, CT — Led by a pair of event titles by Brendan Kirberger, and more team records, the Masuk High boys swim team came in sixth in the Class M State Championships at Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford on Monday.
Masuk had an exciting start, placing second in the 200 yard medley relay with a personal best time of 1:38:74. The relay team consisted of Jack McHugh, Carter Adragna, Mason Eannotti, and Kirberger. They recorded a time of 1:38:74, a new Masuk High School record.
The relay team also qualified for the State Open meet, scheduled for this Saturday, March 22, at Yale University.
The excitement continued when Kirberger got first in the 200 freestyle with a personal best/State Open qualifying time of 1:42:37, also a new Masuk High record and a best time for Kirberger.
In the 50 yard freestyle race, Adragna took second with a personal best time of 21:78, also a State Open qualifying time.
Kirberger earned another state title in the 500 free with a personal best time of 4:38:58. He made State Opens in this event and this is a new Masuk record.
In the 100 backstroke Eannotti placed fifth overall and McHugh placed sixth in the same event. Eannotti finished with a personal best time of 54:92 and McHugh finished with a personal best time of 55:02. Both backstroke competitors qualified for State Opens. Eannotti’s time is a new Masuk record.
In the 100 breaststroke, Adragna placed fifth with a personal best time of 1:01:52, also a Masuk record and State Open qualifying time.
The 400 yard free relay was fourth in 3:16:83, setting another Masuk record. The relay team consisted of Kirberger, McHugh, Eannotti and Adragna.
