Allen J. “Bud” Cassatt, 73, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Rose Marie Cowan Cassatt, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024. Born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Harry and Betty Cassatt, he had been a Fairfield resident since 1990.
Bud proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He then re-entered the military serving in the U.S. Army where he served at the DMZ in Korea, participated in the Grenada Invasion with the 82nd Airborne and was called back to duty serving in Operation Desert Storm.
In addition to his military service, Bud worked at the town of Monroe landfill and at the Sport Hill Service Station for Dave Saad.
His greatest joy was spending time with his loving wife Rosie and their adopted pets. In addition to his wife, Bud is survived by three sons, Andrew Yaeger, Shawn Cassatt and Joshua Cassatt; step-children, Robert Cowan and Kelly Garretson and Kelly’s two children whom Bud adored, Nikki and Hunter Garretson; three brothers, Robert Cassatt, Harry (Chip) Cassatt and Mark Cassatt; a cherished sister, Sharon Prifiti and her husband Marco; uncle and aunt Chuck and Becky Cassatt, uncle Dennis McLeod, as well as other grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Bud’s life will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Easton Congregational Church, 336 Westport Road, Easton. Military honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the service.
