Richard Cliggott Jr. lived a life full of love, laughter, family memories

Richard Thomas Cliggott Jr., 72, of Monroe, passed away on November 2, 2024 in Bridgeport.

Born on December 19, 1952, in Ithaca, N.Y., Dick was the son of Janet and Richard Cliggott. He attended Pascack Valley High School, where he excelled in both track and field and wrestling — a passion that carried him to the University of Michigan, when he continued his wrestling career.

On September 8, 1979, Dick married Monica Keenan in Greenwich. Together, they raised two sons, Tom and James, in Connecticut, where they shared a life full of love, laughter and family memories.

Dick enjoyed a successful career, first on Wall Street before joining Cliggott Publishing. Later, he became the owner and operator of Discount Heating Oil, where he built a thriving business.

Dick is survived by his devoted wife, Monica; his sons, Tom and James; and  numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and family friends, all of whom will miss him deeply.

In accordance with his wishes, services will be held privately with family and close friends.
