It would be an honor to serve as your State Senator

To the Editor:

Monroe deserves strong representation in the State Senate to ensure we receive our fair share of state funding and support. For years, Monroe’s share of state education funding has been shrinking. At the beginning of the school year, those of us who are parents, like me, hear stories about our teachers buying classroom supplies for themselves, or relying on parents to make sure there are enough pencils and glue sticks for our students. I will fight for Monroe’s fair share of education dollars.

With Monroe’s economic development bringing more traffic, I will fight for road improvements on Route 25, Route 111, and beyond to maintain safe and efficient travel for residents and businesses alike. Making sure this happens requires a tireless advocate for Monroe.

I’m Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox, and I am looking forward to having the opportunity to be that advocate for the people of Monroe. As an active member of the Rotary Club, a board member for the League of Women Voters and Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA (which serves Monroe), and a neighbor, I’m committed to seeing Monroe thrive. As a professor who teaches constitutional law, I will work to ensure our freedoms are protected by state law.

This summer and fall, I have been out knocking on your doors and calling you on the phone. It has been a true pleasure getting to know so many of you. As your State Senator, I will listen closely to your needs and advocate for investment in critical services — especially education and transportation — to keep Monroe affordable and vibrant for all.

It would be an honor to serve as your State Senator. Please remember to vote for me, Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox, on Row A this Tuesday, November 5.
