I’m ready for the task of making our community an even better place to live, work, and raise a family

To the editor:

I am honored to be the Republican candidate for the State Senate in District 22, representing Monroe, Trumbull, and Bridgeport. If elected, I pledge to serve our community with integrity and dedication, honoring my word throughout my term.

As someone born and raised in Trumbull, with a business in Bridgeport and family in Monroe, each of these towns holds a special place in my heart. They are all part of the Connecticut I love and am proud to call home. Yet, as much as I appreciate our state’s beauty, I recognize areas where we can improve — particularly in terms of affordability, public safety, crime prevention, education, and much more.

My candidacy is driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact and to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to Hartford. I believe in solutions that directly benefit our community, such as reducing utility costs by removing public benefit charges from ratepayers, introducing child tax credits, and lowering the cost of everyday goods. Connecticut should not be among the most expensive states to live in, and I am committed to creating a more affordable future for all.

When it comes to education, I am passionate about equitable funding for our schools, equal access to technology, protecting parents’ voices in school curriculums, and eliminating unfunded state mandates. Our children are our future, and we must invest in giving them the best opportunities to succeed.

Safety is also a top priority. We’ve all seen the impact of increasing car thefts, break-ins, and retail crime. I believe we must establish stronger deterrents and hold individuals accountable for their actions to curb these trends. Accountability will help create a safer environment for all residents.

Beyond these priorities, I am committed to fostering economic growth in our district. By attracting businesses that align with our community’s character, we can create new jobs and generate tax revenue to support local initiatives.

There is much work ahead, but I am ready for the task of making our community an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. Together, we can build a future that honors our values, addresses our challenges, and celebrates our shared vision for a thriving Connecticut.

Regards,

Chris Carrena (R)

22nd State Senate District Candidate
