Masuk swim and dive team earns second win

MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s girls swim and dive team split a pair of meets this week, falling 96-86 to Brookfield on Sept. 24 and defeating New Milford 90-75 on Sept. 26.

Against Brookfield the Panthers earned first place in the following events:

Diving – Carly Jordan; 50 Free – Lena Savkovic; 200 Free Relay – (Savkovic, Murzinska, Eannotti, Morales); and 100 Breaststroke – Lucia Morales.

In the win over New Milford Masuk earned first in the following:

200 Medley Relay – Savkovic, Morales, Murzinska, Eannotti; 200 IM – Lena Savkovic; 50 Free – Lucia Morales; Diving – Carly Jordan; 100 Fly – Lena Savkovic; 100 Free – Betty Glus; and 500 Free – Skye Eannotti.

Masuk also earned the following second- and third-place finishes (in order of event):

2nd place 200 Medley Relay – Allen, Oliviera, Kirberger, Tyagi; 2nd place 200 free – Betty Glus; 2nd place 200 IM – Izzy Murzinska; 2nd place 50 Free – Skye Eannotti; 3rd place 50 Free – Tierney McGunnigle; 3rd place Diving – Siobhan Riordan; 2nd place 100 Free – Stella Oliviera; 3rd place 100 Free – Ishani Tyagi; 2nd place 500 Free – Tierney McGunnigle; 3rd place 500 Free Sweep – Abby Kirberger.

“New Milford was a great meet for us and really boosted our spirits and morale,” said Masuk Coach Emily DeMace, whose team improved to 2-4 with three meets to go before championship season.
