MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s boys golf team, under the direction of Coach Kris Overcash, got the regular season going in late August and has posted a 3-3 record through its first six matches.

The team is led by senior captains Stephen Sentementes, AJ Cavanaugh and Evan Alderman. Sentementes and junior Andrew Picci lead the team in score average. Junior Mitch DeBernardo has settled into the fifth spot with his consistent play. The team scoring average is 171.2.

Masuk has eight South-West Conference matches left as the Panthers look to earn a spot in the SWC tournament and work toward a state postseason berth.

The Panthers will also participate in two in-season tournaments: Avon Invitational in Simsbury and the Chappa Tournament in Westport.

“The team has great chemistry and energy,” Overcash said. “If they continue to play as well as they are, they should have no problem getting into the state tournament.”
