Fairway Acres goes Hawaiian with a Luau

Melia, a Polynesian dancer, entertains guests at a Luau at Fairway Acres in Monroe on Aug. 16.

MONROE, CT — A Luau at Fairway Acres Friday, Aug. 16, was enjoyed by 25 residents dressed in their best floral prints with beautiful flower leis adorning their necks at the senior living community at 358 Wheeler Road.

Hawaiian music filled the air on the patio, which was decorated with flamingos, plumeria and hibiscus and guests were treated to a Hawaiian buffet dinner, along with an “Aloha” custom tropical cake.

Everyone danced and cheered as Melia, a Polynesian dancer, mesmerized them with her dance moves from Hawaii and Tahiti.

After her performance, the winner of a hula contest received a year of free coffee, compliments of the Dunkin’ Donuts in Village Square.

Party guests also took photos and selfies in front of a tropical backdrop.

“What an exciting evening enjoyed by all,” resident Louise Belinski exclaimed.
