MONROE, CT — Monroe’s Economic Development Department and the Conservation &
Water Resources Commission are partnering with Bay State Textiles for a textile recycling event at the Monroe Senior Center, 235 Cutlers Farm Road, on Saturday, June 8, from 9 a.m. until noon.
Volunteers will collect textiles/linens, clothing and accessories, footwear and stuffed animals.
Residents may also deposit their textile items in designated containers at the following drop-off locations:
- Monroe Town Hall: Container located between the Town Hall and Edith Wheeler Memorial Library.
- Garder Road Landfill: Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Container located next to the electronics container.
Acceptable Items:
Clothing: Tops, dresses, pants, skirts, undergarments, slips, sweaters, tank tops, jeans, shorts, socks, pajamas, slacks, T-shirts, coats, blazers, sweatpants and sweatshirts.
Footwear: Shoes, sandals, dress boots, cleats, heels, boots, winter boots, work boots, sneakers, slippers, pumps and flip flops.
Accessories: Hats, gloves, scarfs, pocketbooks, duffle bags, totes, belts, ties and bathrobes.
Linens: Sheets, pillows, comforters, stuffed animals, blankets, towels, throw rugs, draperies, table linens and placemats.
Unacceptable items: Mattresses, mattress pads, foam products, couch cushions, lawn furniture cushions, carpet remnants, and rugs (larger than 2’x4’).
