MONROE, CT — The Masuk High boys basketball team looks to bounce back from a tough 60-40 loss to Trumbull on Friday when the Panthers take on Kaynor Tech in their home opener this Tuesday at 7 p.m.
“This year we will look to be competitive in the SWCs, as well as out of league competition,” Coach Peter Szklarz said.
Szklarz said he’s looking for Tyler Newsom to pick up where he left off after enjoying a fantastic freshman year last season, adding the Panthers are also expecting strong contributions from seniors Matt Domenichelli, Ethan Palma and Colin Francisco.
“Juniors Alex Simoulidis, Steven Sentementes and Oliver Irving, as well as Mitch DeBernardo will also be key contributors,” Szklarz said. “Ben Londono, Malakai Roy, Jayden Cassese, Tariq Al-Hameedi and Saijon Gavin will look to provide a spark off the bench.”
This year’s captains are Matt Domenichelli, Colin Francisco, Ben Londono and Tyler Newsom.
After games against Shelton and St. Joseph the Panthers will face their first South-West Conference competition when Bunnell visits on Dec. 27 at 5 p.m.
