MONROE, CT — Employees arriving at work around 8 a.m. Thursday morning at M Cubed Technologies were greeted by a man in the parking lot selling shoes, according to police.
Officers responded to the business at 921 Main St. after receiving a call from the business complaining about the unwanted person in the parking lot, according to police reports. When confronted, the man pulled out a pink and blue pocket knife, the complainant told police, but officers were not able to confirm that the person had the knife.
The man was in a truck marked Safe Guard Shoe Mobile, police said. He was told to leave and not to return to the business.
Businesses fail tobacco compliance checks
Three Monroe businesses were cited Monday for failing tobacco law compliance checks, according to police.
The first of the three took place around noon at Camaro Mini Mart, according to police reports. The clerk was issued an infraction.
The second infraction took place at Noble gas station on Monroe Turnpike, police said, and the third was issued at the Grassy Plains Smoke Shop at 838 Main St.
It is illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone under 21.
Accidents of the week
A portion of Hattertown Road was closed early Wednesday morning just after midnight when a car ended up on its roof in the middle of the road, according to police.
There was one person in the car and they were able to get out of it before officers arrived, according to police reports. The person, a 27-year-old woman, was not injured.
Hattertown Road was closed between Guinea Road and Blanket Meadow Road while police investigated and the car was towed, according to reports.
Later that day around 3:30 p.m. police responded to a three-car accident on Main Street, according to reports.
A black Ford Escape, a Jeep and a Chevrolet pickup truck were involved in the wreck, police said. There were no injuries and the cars were towed from the scene.
On Thursday, police responded to two more accidents on Main Street.
The first occurred around 10:30 a.m. near 84 Main St., according to police, and one person was transported to the hospital after complaining of back pain.
Then, shortly before 3 p.m., a two-car accident occurred near 435 Main Street. One of the cars, a dark Honda sedan, left the scene of the accident before officers arrived, according to police reports.
