MONROE, CT — A rainy Saturday morning didn’t stop close to 75 people from coming to Great Hollow Lake to participate in the annual Plunge at the Park, helping Monroe police officers to raise around $40,000 for Special Olympics Connecticut’s athletes.
Sgt. Todd Keeping organized this year’s event following the retirement of Sgt. Pete Howard, who started Monroe’s plunge over a decade ago.
Jockey Hollow Middle School’s Unified Sports team held a ring toss and obstacle course and K9 Officer Michael DeCarli, Officer Michael Panza and Sgt. John McAulay held a K9 demonstration with their police dog, Riggs, before participants braved the cold water.
