MONROE, CT — Townspeople are invited to attend an outdoor ceremony this morning (Friday) honoring those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
The Rev. Jennifer M. Gingras, pastor of Monroe Congregational Church, will lead a short service on the green, at the corner of Route 111 and Fan Hill Road, and at the church’s outdoor chapel at around 10:28 a.m.
There will be plenty of outdoors seating on the green, at the gazebo, and in the church’s outdoor chapel, but people should wear face masks.
After Gingras speaks the church bell will be rung 19 times for each year that has passed since the tragic day. There will then be a moment of silence. Gingras will end the service by offering everyone a prayer.
Those who cannot attend in person can watch the ceremony live on the Monroe Parents page.
