Traffic on The Monroe Sun grew by nearly 27 percent in 2021

MONROE, CT — Coverage of tree lightings and other holiday events, zoning issues and the municipal election, in a year with expanded fall sports coverage, all factored into strong growth in visits to The Monroe Sun in 2021.

Kudos to Andy Hutchison for bringing some of the biggest games to life in his articles, from the Masuk girls’ softball team capturing the State championship to the amazing comeback wins of the Panthers football team.

Thank you to all of the coaches and parents who shared information, statistics, and sometimes photos, with us from games.

One of the most enjoyable stories for me was Fawn Hollow teacher Christine Scarpati’s competing on Food Network’s TV show “Amazing Pumpkins”.

It was fun to share these moments on The Monroe Sun, where visits rose by nearly 27 percent over the previous year, with 510,214 in 2020 and 647,212 in 2021.

I’m grateful to everyone who has made The Sun a part of their daily news consumption and to the Monroe CT Residents Facebook page for sharing Sun story links. One goal of the New Year will be to increase the number of free daily email newsletter signups, which currently total 497. To signup, click here.

Thank you to everyone who made individual donations, including those who treat it like a subscription by making monthly or annual donations, for your support.

Appreciation also goes to The Monroe Sun’s sponsors, including 574 WinesYour CBD Store Monroe and Sippin Energy Products, which stuck with The Monroe Sun the longest.

Last year, support also came from Hartford HealthCare, Hair by Doris, Pony Parts Plus, Valerie’s Gallery, A Wellness Life, Quality of Life LLC, the Monroe Farmers’ Market, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and the Monroe Economic Development Commission.

I’m also grateful for The Sun’s partnership with The Center for Family Justice.

In 2022, I’m optimistic about bringing on L.A. Barnaby & Sons as a new advertiser. The roofing company, owned by a Monroe family with roots in the community is celebrating its 75 year anniversary, which is quite a fete.

As The Monroe Sun closes in on completing its third year this summer, here’s hoping 2022 is a brighter new year for all!
