Police Reports: Smash and grab at the Mobil station

Burglars stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the Mobil station on Route 111 Wednesday morning.

Burglars rammed a stolen vehicle into the front door of the Mobil gas station at 405 Monroe Turnpike to enter the convenience store early Wednesday morning, before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said the incident tripped the burglar alarm around 3:25 a.m. and officers arrived to find an ATM machine that was moved to the parking lot and a vehicle with its engine running.

Lt. Stephen Corrone said the burglars did not open the ATM and a check on the vehicle revealed it was stolen out of Bridgeport.

Officers searched the area, but nothing was found, according to Corrone. The incident is under investigation.
