MONROE, CT — Casey Cummings, of Easton, lost her brother, Tyler, affectionately nicknamed Ty-Man, to a rare form of multiple sclerosis in July of 2019.

“Regional Hospice gave my brother a comfortable exit from this life,” Cummings told guests at the 31st Annual Newtown Giving Circle Summer Breakfast at The Waterview on June 15. “All I had to do was be his sister. It was heartbreaking.”

“My family and I recognize we got through this with the help and support of Regional Hospice,” she continued. “It allowed us to build Tyler’s legacy one step at a time. The word hospice, to me, means peace for my loved one.”

Cummings was the featured speaker at the breakfast/fundraiser, which was attended by representatives of funeral homes and other businesses in the area, who provide financial support to the Newtown Chapter of Regional Hospice.

Among the guests were representatives of Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike.

Cummings said hospice volunteers decorated her brother’s room with his WWE championship belt to lift his spirits in his final days.

“He will be deeply missed every day,” she said. “He would light up every room with his smile and fist bumps. What we were given was the Regional Hospice extension of our family. Fist bumps to you all from my brother Ty-Man.”
